The Flex 15 is a 25 watt guitar amplifier head with unparalleled tone and pick dynamics. It's unique in that it's output
stage is a single-ended triode mode design, which is unheard of at this power level. It also has no negative feedback.
There
are two channels and a tube-buffered effects loop. Both are foot-switchable. The effects loop is both parallel and series
with send and return level controls on the front panel. There is also a Mix knob to control the ratio of wet/dry signal.
The
tube compliment is:
1 12AX7, 2 12AT7s, and 3 6L6GCs (EL34s can also be used)
Any combination
of EL34 and 6L6 tubes can be used. A switchable 5 watt mode uses only one of the output tubes.
Optically isolated relays
are used for channel and effects loop switching for improved reliability and reduced switching noise.
Only premium components
are used. The resistors are 1% tolerance metal film. The capacitors are Mallory 150M and silver mica type. The proprietary
transformers are massive for this power level.
The two printed circuit boards have double copper thickness, and the board with
the tube sockets is extra thick. Many standoffs are used to increase regidity. All potentiometers and wires are connected
to the circuit boards using terminal posts.
The chassis is 16 gauge steel and is powercoat painted for durability. The
cabinet is constructed of 3/4" birch plywood with dovetail joints and tolex covering. The grills are heavy gauge steel which
is powdercoat painted.
The Flex 15 weighs 40 lbs and measures 19"W x 12"H x 9 3/4"D.
